Description:
DAI is preparing for an anticipated USAID funded agribusiness program in Egypt (Integrated Agribusiness Sector in Egypt (IASE) project) which will focus on strengthening agricultural markets and trade while utilizing technology and best practices to improve agricultural practices and value added processing. The anticipated program will address Egypt’s agricultural challenges in an effort to improve agricultural inputs and sector services and work with Egyptian counterparts to promote trade facilitation for key crops.

Core Responsibilities:
The Chief of Party (COP) will be responsible for overall project management, including strategic vision and field team leadership; development and implementation of work plans, overseeing operational budgets and performance monitoring plans; liaising with the USAID mission, government officials, other donors and partner organizations; identifying and mitigating program risks, and ensuring achievement of project results and objectives.  The COP will supervise key project staff and ensure compliance with DAI ethics, procedures and policies and USAID rules and regulations.  Additional responsibilities include:
  • Direct staff development, team building, and strategic planning;
  • Train and mentor staff;
  • Serve as principal point of contact on contractual and technical matters with USAID, Government of Egypt officials , and all partners;
  • Ensure that all program deliverables are completed on time and are of high quality;
  • Responsible for IASE program budget;
  • Ensure all program activities are in compliance with DAI and USAID rules and regulations;
Qualifications:
  • At least 10-15 years of international development experience in managing and implementing large agriculture or business development programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues relating to agricultural enhancements for Egypt.
  • Demonstrated expertise in agriculture/agribusiness development, institutional capacity building or business enabling environment, as well as program design and implementation.
  • Experience leading successful agricultural development programs the Middle East-North Africa region.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with senior host-government counterparts, local implementing partners, and other USG- and other donor-funded programs.
  • Demonstrated high regard for an ethical management approach.
  • Masters degree or higher in agricultural production, agricultural science, international development, business management or a related field.
  • Experience working with women’s cooperatives and rural youth preferred.Strong communications skills with fluency in English language required; proficiency in Arabic preferred.
