OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The main objective of Global Leprosy Programme (GLP) unit is to ensure that the disease burden continues to decline in all the endemic countries and leprosy disease brought down to the minimal.
Description of duties
Under the direct supervision of the Medical Officer and guidance of the Team Leader, the incumbent provides administrative and secretarial support with responsibilities for specific subjects as assigned
· Provide overall administrative support to Team Leader, Medical and Technical Officers, Global Leprosy Programme, covering all WHO Regions for effective programme management, implementation and evaluation.
· Collect, register and maintain information relating to Global Leprosy Programme activities, day-to-day correspondence and follow-up of activities and communications between all WHO Regions, WHO Representatives (WRs), Ministries of Health, of leprosy endemic countries, to ensure efficient functioning of the Programme.
· Receive, screen, log and route correspondence, attach necessary background documents and maintain follow-up systems. Select and make pertinent abstracts and undertake searches for information.
· Draft/prepare, on own initiative, correspondence, reports, evaluations and justifications, as required, on general administrative or specific non-technical tasks.
· Compile and maintain online latest updated information list of donors' profile, NGOs, international experts and leprosy related WHO Collaborating Centres/Research centres at global level; Follow-up and update the data base for future research activities. Follow up leprosy surveillance activities by collaborating with Regions, countries for data and updated information with regard to drug implementation. Monitor receipt and implementation of donors' contribution(s), through HQ, for leprosy programme and coordinate supplies and equipment, as required.
· Provide administrative and logistic support required while arranging travel/official visit for Unit staff. Brief/support the Acting in-charge in the absence of supervisors. Follow-up of visit reports/recommendations for future actions to be taken.
· Provide assistance in organizing meetings and negotiations between Donors, Partners, NGOs including global and interregional meetings; meetings with the donors and provide logistic and administrative support; Follow-up of the meeting of the reports/recommendations for future action.
· Perform other related duties as required or as instructed, by supervisors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: Completion of secondary school education.
Desirable: Training in secretarial/administrative field.

Functional Knowledge and Skills
· Thorough knowledge of WHO Office procedures, practices, etc. with good knowledge or organizational structure of technical and support programme units;
· Ability to draft clearly and concisely correspondence, reports and take notes;
· Ability to handle work in a timely and accurate manner;
· Ability to maintain and update knowledge in the use of office technology through in-house courses, on-the-job training and/or self-training.

Other IT skills: Proficiency in the use of modern office software packages such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) and standard office equipment. Good working knowledge of GSM (or other Oracle-based ERP system is desirable.)
Experience
· Essential: At least six (6) years progressive experience in administrative work.
· Desirable: Relevant experience in WHO or in UN/International Organization will be an asset.
Languages
· Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
Additional Information
· In addition to position-specific test, external candidates will be required to qualify mandatory tests in English language and computer skills.
· A written test, using computer, will be held for the short-listed applicants. The performance in written test will decide applicant's eligibility to appear in the interview.
· The written test for shortlisted candidates will tentatively be held during the period 28 September to 31 October 2016. Candidates are advised to make themselves available during that period.

· This position is subject to local recruitment and will be filled only by a national of India, willing to relocate within commutable distance.
