Responsibilities
The Information Technology Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

1. Assist in server operations and administration: 

• Assists in designing, maintaining and further developing Divisional websites and databases such as UNPAN and the Divisional Workspace using document and content management systems, DNN modules, ASP.NET, Javascript, and HTML/CSS.

• Assist in routine installation, configuration, testing and deployment of server hardware and software (Web and database servers) and web portals (Divisional websites, UNPAN, and SharePoint workspace). 

• Performs data entries and extraction functions including MS SQL and MS SharePoint inquiries. Collects various statistics and produces reports through data extraction from databases. 

• Assist in routine administration, operation, technical support, and monitoring of server systems. 

• Implements backups of servers following standard backup procedures and maintains documentation of server systems pertinent to operations and system administration. 

2. Assist in service installation and support:

• Performs tasks related to scheduled service requests, including equipment replacement, software installation, IT inventory and other related tasks.

• Assist in responding to requests and resolving IT related tasks from UNPAN users and Divisional staff in the use of Divisional websites and databases as well as provide training. 

• Diagnoses and resolves any server, hardware, software, or connectivity problem. 

3. Assist in desktop administration and configuration: 

• Performs 1st level desktop troubleshooting.

• Maintains and updates files and internal databases.

4. Perform a wide range of other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in the information technology field or related area, including maintaining web pages is required. Experience with Microsoft SQL, HTML, MS Server Management, CSS and Javascript is desirable. Experience with DNN, C# and asp.net is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
