Description

Chemonics seeks a project management and new business associate for our Europe and Eurasia (E&E) regional business unit. Please note that this a split portfolio opportunity – the individual will support new business efforts as half of their portfolio, while supporting project management as the second half of their portfolio. This is an exciting and dynamic time for the E&E region.  We currently have 14 active projects in seven countries, including six projects less than three months old in diverse technical sectors spanning economic growth and trade, education, land/agriculture, democracy and governance, as well as human and institutional capacity development. We are looking for a self-starter with strong writing, communication, interpersonal, and strategic thinking skills; experience with supporting building and maintaining highly successful teams; demonstrated interest in project management and business development; ability to build and maintain successful relationships with internal and external parties; and demonstrated versatility. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 
Responsibilities include:
 Project Management:
  • Support field-office administration, including coordinating travel, visa processing, travel advancements, vendor payment request, invoicing, approvals, and updating of project-related trackers
  • Process field reports, including time and expense reports and other client-related reports
  • Draft and manages project-related employment and subcontract agreements
  • Coordinate with project team to compile agendas for weekly teleconference and other project-related meetings
  • Assist with procurement and grant-related project activities
  • Assist and supports communication to field teams and client
  • Address field staff’s inquiries and needs promptly
  • Communicate scopes of work, policies, and allowances/benefits for team member and consultants
  • Assist with recruiting and suggests candidates for a variety of field positions
  • Assist with budget monitoring, level-of-effort utilization, invoices, subcontractors’ costs, expense reports, deliverables, etc., to monitor compliance with contract and Chemonics’ regulations. Issue status reports as needed
  • Maintain knowledge in own discipline and begins to expand versatility in international development work by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies and Chemonics’ practice networks
New Business:
  • Participate on proposal teams to provide research, writing, costing, coordination, and administrative support to proposals, and/or other marketing materials produced by the new business unit
  • Serve in new business team roles consistent with understanding client requirements, Chemonics’ policies and standard operating procedures, and within quality standards set by the immediate supervisor
  • Develop and maintains Corporate Proposal Tracker and other tools as directed
  • Assist in recruitment of short- and long-term staff for proposal efforts by identifying and recommending a short list of candidates to consider for potential assignments
  • Carry out periodic research for proposals as requested
  • Provide basic technical information to support new business efforts, Chemonics’ knowledge base, practice networks, and other work products as requested by supervisor and colleagues
  • Collaborate with operations team on resourcing proposals to ensure proper workload balance/distribution
  • Attend educational workshops, reviews professional publications, establishes personal networks, and participates in professional societies and Chemonics’ practice networks to maintain and expand knowledge in international development
  • Provide administrative support to new business consultants, including timesheet management and ensuring payments to the consultant are processed
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of international development, foreign assistance programming, and Chemonics’ present and past contributions. Develop and maintains productive relationships with clients, vendors, partners, and consultants that serve to enhance Chemonics’ reputation

  • Contribute to technical practice of relevance to areas of interest or focus, sharing information and best practices learned with the company

 Qualifications:
  • ​Bachelor's degree in international development or other relevant technical field required
  • Minimum one year of administrative and/or technically relevant work experience required
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of 4 to 8 weeks per year; experience working or living in a developing country in Europe and Eurasia preferred
  • Strong administrative skills, word processing abilities, and attention to detail
  • Able to follow standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision on work progress, and make significant contribution to end results
  • Able to work on one or more projects and provide support to proposals 
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-moving team
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to treat information with discretion and exhibit sensitivity and tact in communications
  • Resourceful problem-solving and initiative to learn new skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Knowledge of Eastern Europe and/or Central Asia current affairs and history preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Proficiency in Russian or another Eastern European language preferred
