To date, we have sold 65,000 ReadyPay power systems in Uganda and we are growing our product portfolio and geographic coverage to bring power and a wider world of financing to over 2 million customers by 2020.
Job Description
As the product manager for the ReadyPay power system (our flagship product), you will oversee all aspects of product and act as the primary point of contact for all internal inquiries related to the product. You will be responsible for monitoring the product’s health and performance in the field, leading investigation and resolution of product issues as they arise, leading the design and testing of product iterations and working with the engineering team to supply the after sales service teams with processes for diagnosing and repairing the product.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, interpret and analyze product data from many sources using statistical techniques to provide monthly reports on the product’s health and performance.
  • Identify, investigate and develop resolution plans for any product issues that may arise.
  • Plan, provision and execute product studies to better understand end user needs and behaviors utilizing strategically deployed remote data loggers.
  • Work closely with the product development team to utilize existing product insights to inform the design of next generation products.
  • Collect stakeholder feedback to specify any changes or enhancements to product and get full buy in of all relevant parties.
  • Work with QA team to develop and conduct any necessary pre-release quality testing.
  • Coordinate rollout of all product changes and facilitate necessary team education.
  • Collaborate with the managers of the After Sales Service teams (based in Uganda) and the engineering team to set up processes for diagnosing and repairing suspect product.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Two years minimum related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, science or related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, distill, and analyze complex data sets.
  • An understanding of effective technical communication and data visualization methods.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills (English).
  • Ability and drive to work independently when necessary and to push projects forward.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability and interest in traveling to East Africa (expected ~15% travel).

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience working with SQL and/or Tableau
  • Experience working with data collection systems
  • Understanding of software design principles and best practices
  • Understanding of basic statistical concepts and their application
  • Previous experience working on consumer hardware products
  • A reasonable level of programming/scripting ability for data analysis
